Line Worker
Eastern Illini Electric Cooperative has a position open for an Apprentice Line Worker at its Pesotum location. This position is responsible for the construction, repair, and maintenance of the Cooperative’s electrical transmission and distribution system, and outage restoration, in a safe and efficient manner.
The major portion of the workday involves general activities of line construction, including construction and maintenance of overhead and underground facilities. Individuals must have the ability to perform work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. Line workers are subject to call 24 hours per day, including weekends and holidays and long periods of work in all types of weather conditions. Line workers must reside not more than twenty-five driving miles from the reporting location.
Qualified candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and lineman’s technical training is preferred. A valid Class A Illinois Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is required. If the Class A CDL is not issued by the State of Illinois, the applicant must be able to transfer to the State of Illinois. This is a safety sensitive position and employees are subject to random drug and alcohol testing in compliance with DOT regulations. Candidates must be CPR & First Aid certified, have the ability to climb power poles and structures without the aid of man-lift equipment, and the ability to perform pole-top bucket rescue within OSHA standards. A pre-employment physical and drug screen are a required condition of employment.
The apprentice line worker wage is $43.76 per hour for the year 2025.
